Due to the hour long, head-to-head format - there will be no traditional “home plate gathering” to go over the Long Time Ground Rules. Please read them here beforehand.

Big highlights:
- No advancing on passed balls from 3rd base
-Each team gets five home runs, each home run after that is an automatic out.
-Once a player hits a homerun from her/his dominant side, they must turn it around and hit from their non-dominant side for the rest of the game.

On Friday, our pregame warm-up has been converted into a festival style, field wide Community Stretch, Throw & Fungo. All 17 participating teams are welcome to attend and get their reps in before the weekend of play. This is from 6:30p - 7:30p. Be welcoming to other players in our dugout during this time and get warm for the game while introducing yourself to other sandlotters. National Anthem is at 7:25p and game kicks off at 7:30p.

On Saturday, Alcas should warm up before getting onto the field at our scheduled start time, there is no time in the schedule to warm up on the field. Ask a staff person where you can warm up safely, they have some ideas.

On Sunday, there is an 11:00a game between the Pig’s Eye Privateers and the Waterloo Bridge Bats. Our estimated time to take the field for warm-ups is 2:00p. First pitch is slated at 3:00p against. the Tigres de San Antonio.

The in and outs, getting on and off the field, is where the most time is lost. If your team is interested in maximizing baseball, get 'em to hustle up. Pitchers can also quicken the pace of the turnover by throwing less warmup pitches, or as they say in Canada, "Save the gas for the lawnmower!"

Times are approximate and we’ll do our best to have you rotate on after a full inning has been played, but it won't always be the case.

The Alcas are going to implement a “no huddle” defense and skip warmups in between innings defensively.

No “Good game!” with the other team on the field. Once it’s time for your team to rotate off the field, go give everyone in the crowd a high five/good game (as is the Long Time tradition). This includes spectators, vendors, kiddos and pups alike.

Since we our second game concludes Saturday festivities, we get to give the final “Good Game” salute to the crowd.

There will be a not be post-game mound photo on the field until our "game" ends at 7PMish.

How Austin, Texas became the center of the Sandlot Revolution

The Pelicans partnered with Jack Sanders and the Playboys in 2024 as. we welcomed the barnstormin’ Playboys to Golden Gate Park and San Quentin. They returned the favor later that year by welcoming us to the Long Time and playing a progressive 1886 to modern sandlot game.

The Playboys sandlot social club follows nine tenents from Jack Sanders’ “Sandlot Manifesto”:

1: No Doubleheaders — Keeps the focus on quality and leisure over exhausting quantities of play.

2: Win the Pregame — Prioritizes the party, community gathering, and tailgating ethos before the first pitch.

3: Swing and Miss — Promotes a relaxed attitude toward mistakes and celebrates giving it your best try.

4: No Practices — Rejects rigorous, mandatory training structures to keep the sport spontaneous and fun.

5: Biodynamic Baseball — Embraces an organic, makeshift connection to the field, equipment, and environment.

6: Focus on the Club — Centers attention on building relationships within the team rather than scouting opponents.

7: Design Build Adventure — Appreciates the architectural and creative freedom of constructing makeshift backstops and local diamonds.

8: Steppin' up to the Plate — Encourages players to face challenges head-on with courage and personal style.

9: Good Game — Prioritizes sportsmanship, safety, and mutual respect over the actual outcome of the final score.
